Major Responsibilities:

Designs and develops new products, new manufacturing processes, and recommends new equipment as needed by the business.  Lead the transition of these new products, processes, and equipment from the office to the shop floor.  Ensure that these new products, processes, and equipment result in the continuous production of advanced carbon, graphitic, metallic,  and composite materials and assemblies that meet or exceed our customers’ expectations.  Ensure that these new products, processes, and equipment meet or exceed the requirements of our ISO 9001:2008 and AS 9100 Certifications and are consistent with established standards, customer specifications, and production goals. Perform roles and responsibilities in accordance with direction from the Adjacency Product Engineering Manager. 

Essential Functions:

  1. Uses 2-D and 3-D computer aided design (CAD) equipment and software to develop new product designs in support of our New Product Design and Development (NPDD) projects.
  2. Reviews customer engineering drawings and models and creates production drawings and ensures that they are appropriate for release to the manufacturing shop floor.
  3. Develops manufacturing drawings, Bills of Materials, Routers, Work Instructions, and Control Plans for new products in support of our product development activities.
  4. Develops and implements safe, optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes, methods, and equipment platforms to meet requirements of new product designs.
  5. Recommends and implements improvements to manufacturing processes, methods, and controls.
  6. Designs, develops, tests, and/or outsources various tools, machinery, and equipment for recommended manufacturing methods and processes as needed.
  7. Represent product engineering as needed on cross-functional teams.
  8. Participates in concurrent engineering design reviews.
  9. Supports the conversion of small-scale processes into commercially viable large-scale operations.
  10. Assists with the manufacturing launch of new or revised products, processes, and equipment.
  11. Manages multiple projects at once ensuring
  12. Performs other duties as assigned.
