The award, sponsored by Morgan Advanced Materials recognizes a distinguished doctoral dissertation in the ceramics and glass discipline. The recipient must have been a member of the Global Graduate Researcher Network and have completed a doctoral dissertation plus other graduation requirements set by their institution for a doctoral degree within 12 months prior to the application deadline.
Dong’s dissertation “Cation Kinetics and Electric Field Effect in Zirconia” was selected out of a number of submissions.
“Setting up this award is a great move by the Society,” ACerS past president Bill Lee says. “It recognizes excellence in research, engages with the next generation of leaders in our field, and spreads the word about ceramics.”
The award consists of a $1,000 honorarium, certificate which includes the Morgan Medal, and complimentary registration at the Society’s Annual Meeting. It will be presented to Dong at the Society's Annual Honor and Awards banquet, October 15, 2018, in Columbus, Ohio, during ACerS Annual Meeting held at the Materials Science and Technology Conference.
